What got you into motorsport and volunteering?
Honestly it was just seeing a motorcycle race and thinking “I really need to see this close up”. The excitement of it all really got me passionate in getting in amongst the action.
How long have you been a volunteer with MA?
16 years. My aim is to continue until I reach 21 years.
What’s your favourite thing about volunteering?
I love just being amongst the competitors and all the other volunteers. There’s a huge versatility of people and they’re a great bunch that I work with.
Most memorable moment whilst volunteering with MA?
That would have been going on a pillion ride with Shaun Giles at Phillip Island. I got dobbed in to do it and ended up doing five laps which was incredible!
Best experience as a volunteer (best event etc.)?
I really enjoy just being there and being up close to the action. I love being on the wall, after scrutineering the riders, and watching them all fly past. It’s really just the excitement of it all that gets me.
Best advice you’ve been given?
The best advice I’ve been given is to just be yourself and enjoy the sport.
I’ve never met anyone who hasn’t come along for the ride, given it a try, and hasn’t loved the experience.
Definitely road racing. It’s really where my passion lies.
There’s a couple. Phillip Island is one. I’ve also just come back from Darwin and loved the Hidden Valley track.
Without a doubt, Troy Bayliss. He is a gentleman.
But I’ve also got a soft spot for Oli Bayliss. He’s a cheeky one!
What 2018 event are you most excited for?
I am most excited for World Superbikes! Although it’s an international event, the crew are wonderful, and the environment is comfortable and easy going so you feel like you’re working at a club event.
