RIDE PARK AUSTRALIA DAYS this new initiative from Motorcycling Australia is fantastic! They are fun leisure days, no pressure and a chance to ride all different venues with difficult or advanced skills sections of the track bypassed for everyone’s enjoyment.

LADIES GARAGE NIGHTS & WORKSHOPS
Ladies Garage Nights are a space for women to network, learn and share motorcycle related information and tips with no judgement.
From the basics of the right gear and bike for you, to introductory and event more advanced mechanical checks and servicing.
These events are also fantastic opportunities to meet and connect with other like minded ladies plus hear from women in all areas of the industry.

WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIPS
The more girls and women there are out there, the more dedicated classes and championships there will be!
We are quite lucky really! Normally we will be able to ride in both the mixed classes PLUS the women’s classes! Or if you’re not confident enough, just have fun riding in the women’s class.
National:
Enduro – Australian Women’s Off Road Championship Class plus Australian Junior Women’s Off Road Championship Class.
MX – There are generally 3 MX Nationals Women’s Championship rounds for the best MX women in Aus to battle it out on a national stage!
SX – For those women that like some air time, there is an SX2 Women’s Australian Supercross Championship Class!
Road – Even playing field! There is one National Women’s Road Race Championship in Supersport 300s but no other classes due to lack of numbers, but this is one discipline where the boys don’t have an advantage over us, so chuck on the leathers and helmet girls and give it to them!
Supermoto – Australian Supermoto Women’s Championship Class
Speedway – Due to very low numbers of women and girls competing in Speedway there isn’t a dedicated championship for us, but what an epic discipline it is so give it a go girls!
Trials – Australia has so many amazing Trials women and girls and we have both junior and senior women’s classes.
Dirt Track & Track – We have both women and girls Australian Championship Classes for Dirt Track and Track .
ATV – For those who prefer 4 wheels, there are National Championship Classes for women in several ATV disciplines.
State:
Motorcycling WA Women’s Committee are again ensuring the WAMX Senior & Junior Women’s State MX Championship is held all over the state at some of the best tracks.
Motorcycling Queensland are also continuing with their Women on Wheels Championship which is great to see.
All other states we need the girls to make their voices heard and let promoters, clubs and SCB’s know that you have the numbers for a dedicated girls and or women’s class for your championship. If the promoters advertise a these classes, we are more likely to get more entries in.
Clubs:
There are many clubs that are or are willing to hold dedicated classes for girls and women so be sure to check with them on classes for upcoming events.
MOTO CAREERS
You can do whatever you put your heart to!
Dream Job – There are so many exciting and rewarding roles within the motorcycle industry. So figure out what you enjoy doing and set your sites on it. If you’re not sure what role you would enjoy, approach different types of businesses, organisations and companies in the industry and offer to volunteer your time or to do some work experience to get a closer look on what’s involved in different roles.

Study is also a great way to start off. We will never stop learning and bettering ourselves. Study will also show potential future employers that you are driven and passionate about your dream and the industry.
Find a mentor – There are so many incredible women in the motorcycle industry who would be more than happy to mentor you and help you on your journey.
Be persistent – It’s just a matter of time before staff turn over and leave an opening for you! Be sure your dream employer and others have your current resume and touch base with them every month to check on job vacancies. Always use professional communication and presentation and your name will start to stick!
Show face – Think it’s old fashion to physically take in a resume to a potential employer? Yes well it may be, but employers do like to see you face to face. They can see that you are presented well, speak professionally, are personable, are driven and confident. (Don’t think you’re confident? You are you! Be proud of who you are! Don’t put too much pressure on yourself. If you connect with some employers and not with others, that’s ok, what will be will be).
Networking is a fantastic way to meet others in the industry and share ideas and experiences. You can learn a lot from meeting people and listening to their stories. There are many moto groups you can join online, or clubs you can visit, seminars you can take part in or even just remaining in contact with interesting people you meet on your journey.
Start your own business! Why not! If you have a business idea, if there is demand for it, if you have the right support and drive, DO IT! Get that mentor, do your homework and chase those dreams! Being your own boss in the motorcycle industry is something very special.
AWARDS
Several State Controlling Bodies are quite proactive with women’s participation development and offer incentives and awards. Contact your SCB to see what awards and programs are up for grabs in your state.
The Motorcycling Australia Women’s Committee are working hard on some exciting projects for the future so watch this space ladies!
Life isn’t always about awards and accomplishments. Be sure to work as hard as you want or can, stay true to yourself and your dreams, don’t put too much pressure or stress on yourself. If you happen to take home an award at the end then you definitely deserve it and they are a lovely show of acknowledgement for your hard work and contribution.
BECOME AN OFFICIAL
Being an official is an extremely rewarding role within the motorcycle industry and an absolutely vital role to the longevity of motorcycling! One of the best things about officiating, is the amazing people you work with and form life long friendships with.
There are so many different roles and many for newbies where you do not need any experience at all!
Do you have a disability? No worries! There are is a role for everyone.
Contact your local MA affiliated motorcycle club (via your SCB website) and join up. Let the secretary or president know you are keen to become an official and head to a club event to get started! You should be shown the ropes and paired with an experienced official till you are confident. And remember, just ask questions if you’re not sure on anything, we were all learners at one stage.
There are several levels of Officials Accreditation and you can move through the ranks quite quickly if you apply yourself.
