Adelaide, South Australia has been announced as the location to host the FIM Oceania Speedway Championship on November 23, 2019.
Australia has previously held FIM Oceania sanctioned Speedway Sidecar Championships, but this time solo speedway riders will be the stars under the FIM Oceania banner.
Gillman Speedway, in metropolitan Adelaide, is one of Australia’s best speedway tracks.
With the 2020 Australian Senior Solo Speedway Championship kicking off in January, Speedway Riders Association of South Australia President Ivan Golding said the event provided home-grown riders competing overseas with another quality event to race at in Australia.

“It will be a great opportunity for the Australian riders when they return home from overseas to compete in another big meeting on home soil,” Goulding said.
“We’ve run the FIM Oceania Sidecar Championship every year, which has been a success, so hoping the solo event will be, too.
“The event is open to all international competitors, so that’s another exciting aspect that could attract big names to Australia during the European winter.”
FIM Oceania President Glen Williams said he couldn’t more be excited about the potential of FIM Oceania Speedway Championship.
‘’FIM Oceania is very pleased to be supporting the FIM Oceania Speedway Championship, where we will get to see some of the Oceania region’s best Speedway riders battling it out at Gillman Speedway in South Australia,” Williams said.
“This event fits well with FIM Oceania’s mission to develop the sport of motorcycling within our region. Our continued support of high-quality FIM Oceania events reflects the valued exposure that Gillman Speedway bring to our sport.
“I am sure that the FIM Oceania Speedway Championship will provide all who attend with an action-packed spectacle of the highest level.’’
