Brad Gorrie is a motorcycle sidecar racer who is a familiar face to all our Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) fans! On top of his successes in sidecar racing overseas, Gorrie also has an impressive resume in BMX racing! Whilst in his off season, gearing up for the 2019 British Sidecar Championship, Gorrie sat down with Motorcycling Australia to discuss what he misses most about his home “down under” and his extensive training regime!
Where are you currently competing?
I have just finished up a full season at the IDM German Sidecar Championship. Right now I’m currently in the off season preparing myself for the 2019 British Sidecar Championship.
What’s the hardest thing about adapting to your new country?
Would have to be the language barrier! But thankfully by the end of the year I knew enough basic German to get myself through a conversation.
What do you miss most about home?
What is your preparation/training regime like?
I like to train six days a week including cycling, running, gym, a lot of stretching and a healthy diet. But nothing beats time on the bike so its important that having myself 100% physically ready will ensure the race distances are easier.
What’s been a highlight for you this year?
The highlight is all the new friends I have made, and being able to race at some of the best tracks in the world.
What is your single most motivating force?
My own drive to be the best person I can be in order to reach my goals.
Tell us a bit more about what you hope to achieve and what you have already achieved in 2018?
Adam and myself managed to finish 9th place in the IDM German Championship and a number of podiums in the International Sidecar Trophy. For 2019 I look forward to fitting into a new team and having a successful season in the British Championship.
What’s your strangest overseas experience been so far?
Just getting used to driving on the opposite side of the road in a left hand drive car!
Do you have a special message for your fans back home?
Believe in yourself and chase your dreams!
Favourite thing to do besides motorcycling?
BMX Racing and Mountain Biking.
Embarrassing fact about you?
I am the worst at spelling – Yes my Girlfriend spell checked this interview.
Describe yourself in three words
