Following recommendations from Motorcycling Australia’s Track Commission and approved by the Rules and Technical Committee, current Classic and Evo speedway classes for solos and sidecars will be elevated to official Australian Championship status from 2027.
To be reflected in the General Competition Rules of the 2027 Manual of Motorcycle Sport, the following classes will now be official Australian Championships:
• Classic Speedway (riders under 50 years);
• Classic Speedway (riders over 50 years);
• Evo Speedway;
• Post Classic Sidecar;
• British, European and American Sidecar;
• Japanese Sidecar; and
• Evo Sidecar.
The current technical rules for the Classic and Evo speedway classes, as they appear in the 2026 Manual of Motorcycle Sport, will remain unchanged – the only change in 2027 will be the elevation to Australian Championship status.
