Back on the East Coast, the 2020 U21 500cc Solo Speedway Championship will take place at Undera, Victoria on 25 January 2020.
For 2021, the Australian U16 125cc Solo and Pairs Speedway Championship’s will land at Sidewinders, South Australia (SA), while the 2021 Australian U16 250cc Solo and U21 500cc Solo Speedway Championships will head to Gillman, SA.
2018 and 2019 Australian U21 500cc Solo Champion Jaimon Lidsey was positive about the new Australian Junior Championship calendar. “A few years back for the U16 125cc Solo Championship I headed over to Western Australia… it was a great experience to receive the opportunity to compete on the other side of the nation, especially considering I took out the Championship title and brought it back home to Victoria!” Lidsey said. “The trip itself is far and tough, but for our younger riders it’s a great opportunity to travel across the nation and experience a different environment.
“I’m really excited for the 2020 Australian U21 500cc Championship in Undera. To race at home is a great experience because you feel comfortable on the track, but it can be a double-edged sword as the expectation to succeed is that much higher” he said.
The stakes are high for competitors as a win in the Australian Championships also includes the opportunity to represent Australia at the World Championships.
