What got you into motorsport?
I was born into it! My whole family were deep into the motorcycle world!
What got you into volunteering?
From a young age I’ve been involved. I was simply keen to help!
How long have you been a volunteer with MA?
I’ve been volunteering now for 30 years. I started volunteering with Supercross when I was 12 but had to stop for one year when a rule came through that you needed to be 16 to be an Official.
What’s your favourite thing about volunteering?
Without a doubt, the people you meet!
Most memorable moment whilst volunteering with MA?
I created an imaginary line I created at a Supercross event, that even Jeremy McGrath adhered to. The line couldn’t be crossed unless you wanted to be on TV, and he and all the other rides loved it!
Best experience as a volunteer (best event etc.)?
I used to make the sound operator play “If You’re Happy And You Know It” and make all the riders dance to it! It quickly became an ongoing thing that everyone joined in on!
Best advice you’ve been given?
The best thing I was ever told was to do your best and try to do it right. Just be yourself but to the highest standard.
Favourite discipline?
Supercross or Freestyle Motocross
Favourite track?
Jimboomba X Stadium. It gets you really close to the action!
Favourite rider?
Kirk Gibbs is one of my favourite riders! He is really genuine and real.
What 2019 event are you most excited for?
I’m really excited for the Broken Hill round of AORC! Hopefully it’s a little less dry compared to last year, but the atmosphere was unforgettable.
