National Licences

In order to participate in any MA or State Controlling Body (SCB) permitted event you will be required to be the holder of a current national licence. The type of licence you require is dependent on the type of event you wish to participate in.

Motorcycling Australia licence holders are covered by MA's Group & Individual Personal Accident insurance policy. Click on the link for more information.

Senior National Licence (SNA)

A Senior National Licence entitles you to compete in any competition permitted by Motorcycling Australia or an SCB.

A Senior is classified as a person who is over the age of sixteen (16).

If you are obtaining this licence for the first time you will need to complete the First Time Licence Test. Click here for more information.


Junior National Licence (JNA)

A Junior National Licence entitles you to compete in any competition permitted by Motorcycling Australia or an SCB.

A junior is classified as a person who is over the age of seven (7) and under the age of sixteen (16).

If you are obtaining this licence for the first time you will need to complete the Kick Start Program. Click here for more information.


Senior Restricted Licence (SRN)

A Senior Restricted Licence entitles you to compete in any Moto Trials, Mini Moto and Fast 50s event permitted by Motorcycling Australia or an SCB.

A Senior is classified as a person who is over the age of sixteen (16).

If you are obtaining this licence for the first time you will need to complete the First Time Licence Test. Click here for more information.


Junior Restricted Licence (JRN)

A Junior Restricted Licence entitles you to compete in any Moto Trials, Mini Moto and Fast 50s event permitted by Motorcycling Australia or an SCB.

A Junior is classified as a person who is over the age of seven (7) and under the age of sixteen (16).

Senior One Meeting Licence (SON)

A Senior One Event National Licence entitles you to compete in an open Classic Motocross or Historic Road Race event permitted by Motorcycling Australia.

A Senior is classified as a person who is over the age of sixteen (16).

Recreational Licence (REC)

A Recreation Licence entitles you to compete in any recreational (i.e. club ride day, practice day etc) event permitted by Motorcycling Australia.

A Recreation Licence is valid for those aged 16 or over.

This licence is not valid for any competitive acticities.

Note: A recreational licence is different from Motorcycling Australia's Riders' Division membership.


Mini Licence (MIN)

A Mini Licence entitles you to compete in the 50cc Demo Class (formerly Div 1), Minikhana events and any non-competitive event permitted by Motorcycling Australia.

A Mini Licence is only for those aged between 4 and Under 16.

This licence is not valid for any competitive acticities.


Entrant's Licence (ENT)

An Entrants Licence allows a company to act on behalf of their rider at a race meeting (i.e. lodge protests).

The Entrants Licence also entitles the company's name to be placed in the Race Program next to the name of their rider.
