Intermittent rain played havoc throughout the session, with riders spending more time in the pits than on the track before the skies cleared for the final 10 minutes.
MZ Racing rider Ant West was the best of the local contingent, qualifying 18th fastest and will start from the sixth row on the grid after posting a best lap of 1.35.675.
After burning up the track in the early sessions, West was pushed back in the field as the changing weather conditions made fast times difficult.
Kris McLaren upstaged BRP Racing teammate Blake Leigh-Smith to qualify 32nd fastest and earn a spot on the 10th row of the grid, while Leigh-Smith was 35th and will start 12th row.
McLaren recorded a brilliant 1.37:600 lap time and appears to set to push for finish inside the top 30 come tomorrow’s main race.
