Applications close 29 August, with the winner awarded at a presentation dinner to be held at the last round of the 2008 ASC.

Completed application forms and supporting information should be sent to:

Email: andrew@ma.org.au

The award, established by the family of the late Kirk McCarthy, in conjunction with a number of industry partners, is open to all riders competing in all Australian Superbike Championship classes and will provide the winner with both financial and product support to contest the 2009 Australian Superbike Championship.

McCarthy, who passed away following an incident at the penultimate round of the 2004 ASC on Sunday 15 August, enjoyed a distinguished national and international racing career, which included stints in both the 500cc GP and Superbike World Championships following his crowning as 1995 Australian Superbike Champion.

The award, established in his memory, is aimed at assisting young riders in contesting future ASC seasons.

Applicants will be assessed on a number of qualities including their professional attitude, ability, presentation at all times both on and off the track, dedication and commitment to achieving their goals and their general attitude.

Assessment of all applications will be completed by a panel consisting of representatives of the McCarthy Family (Chair), Motorcycling Industry and Motorcycling Australia.

Previous winners of this prestigious award and perpetual trophy include; Shannon Etheridge, Ian Andrews and Mitchell Carr.
